原爆投下から81年の6日、広島市の平和公園には、朝早くから被爆者や遺族が訪れ、祈りをささげていました。

2歳の時に被爆した83歳の女性は「当時は父に抱えられ避難しました。がれきが落ちてきて父はもう死んでしまうと諦めかけたそうですが、助けてくれた人がいて今の私の命があります。8年前に亡くなった、『胎内被爆者』だった夫には『1人になったけど元気にしているよ』ときょう伝えました。戦争は嫌です」と話していました。

また、母親が17歳で被爆したという70歳の女性は「年々、被爆した人は亡くなっていくので、被爆2世として、生きているうちは世界平和を訴えていかないといけないと思い、毎年、祈りに訪れています。核抑止では平和は実現できない。核廃絶を願っています」と話していました。

午前8時からは平和記念式典が開かれ、被爆者や遺族の代表をはじめ高市総理大臣のほか、過去最多となる123の国と地域の代表などが参列する予定です。

式典では、広島で被爆し、この1年に亡くなったり亡くなったことが確認されたりした4393人の名前が書き加えられた35万3639人の原爆死没者名簿が原爆慰霊碑に納められます。

名簿には、原爆で犠牲になったアメリカ兵の捕虜の実態を独自の調査で明らかにして遺族に伝える活動などを長年にわたって行い、ことし3月に亡くなった森重昭さんの名前も書き加えられました。

原爆が投下された午前8時15分には、参列者全員で黙とうをささげます。

高齢の被爆者も参列する会場では、暑さ対策としてミスト付きの扇風機が設置されるほか、冷たい水やおしぼりなどが配布されます。
